Why did I know the second I saw the title that Vlad would be involved?

We should be talking also about the actual physical size of the motor.

When we say “big engine” is it the displacement.. or the size. Growing up, Dad had an old Ford with a 352 FE engine. That was a “large” engine because it involved a lot of grunting and complaining to pull the heads. Had a friend that ended up with a 400 SBC in a car and dad considered it “small” because he didn’t have

See this discussion has multiple angles. You are attacking it from cylinder displacement, but could one not also think in the terms of physical exterior dimensions. A small block Chevy is according to your scale is BIG, but when looking at exterior dimensions is pretty small. Have you ever seen a small block not in a

That depends entirely on the origin of the engine to me.

Pretty damn close!

Big is anything over 5.7 l.

Rusted out frame being held together with a rusted out body. Bad Brakes, worse steering, and now a cracked head. There is only one logical solution...

David,
Hear me out because this is going to sound crazier than the last suggestion I gave, but it’s not.

Yeah that’s scrap. Cut your losses and buy something that actually has salvageable parts. It’s one thing if it’s got a messed up power train but the chassis is fine or vice versa, but both are gone? What exactly going to be left of this thing when it’s finished?

I’m seconding Tracy’s recommendation. You can quite easily get one of the last few model years with less than 50K miles in the price range he’s looking for.

I though David was going to go the route of, “Rust?! That’s not rust, this is rust (insert current Jeep project)“ and recommend that they keep the Ranger.

No vehicle inspections in CA too so I can imagine all the cars with bald tires and duct taped bumpers cruising in the fast lane at 90+

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m so against this. The average American driver can’t handle a car above 45 let alone 100.

Well it’s certainly not going reduce emissions. Cars driving faster are less efficient (which is why we got stuck with that whole 55 mph speed limit thing).

American drivers aren’t ready for this. We don’t have the strict licensing rules the Germans do.

If this happens, they’ll need to introduce a massive re-education campaign. American drivers don’t have the same discipline (and courtesy) that German drivers do.

.....It doesn’t hurt to have it.  just becuse you’re a master tower doesn’t mean that lesser humans are not allowed to tow and have the use of tech that will keep them and YOU safer on the road

And for just $4,500 you could be the centerpiece of your local Cars & Coffee. I know this is a CP for the vehicle but for the entertainment this is a golden NP.
