Also, I would argue that she is bright - she seems great at observing what others miss. She has a nice sense of logic about her. And The Doctor certainly saw something in her to allow her to study as his private student.
But it has that beautiful last scene of Amelia, waiting… and then hearing the TARDIS. That for me makes up for any missteps in the episode (which I think is fine and the acting between Gillan and Smith in the graveyard is fantastic).
