Except for when she caught Ben telling Bill that the President would give him a full pardon if he cooperated.
Except for when she caught Ben telling Bill that the President would give him a full pardon if he cooperated.
If Batman v Superman had finished Batman's "You're not a god. You're not even a man" dig to Superman with the rest of that speech, it would have shot right up in my book.
It's certainly not a knock on Schoenaerts, who I think is a fantastic actor and his performance was great but, for me, not enough to make me want to spend any time watching the character. He certainly played a great asshole (and he had great screen presence) but, to me, that's all the character was - a selfish asshole…
"Audiard was reduced to tapping James, the worst Belushi, for his new film, but “scheduling conflicts” kept him from being able to appear. When James fucking Belushi opts out of starring in a follow-up to a critically adored and César-winning film, that’s the universe’s way of telling you it’s time to give up."
I found it really confusing to see five star reviews for this and the word 'masterpiece' thrown around. And not in a sense that I disagreed or thought differently about the film (i.e. not in a dickish "your opinion is wrong" way) but in the sense that I was obviously missing something from my experience compared to…
Saw this last year - the review is pretty much spot-on. It's a very likeable documentary which doesn't overdo any of its themes - never overplays the sentimentality, shows the local folk for the maybe kooky but ultimately endearing people they are rather than amping up the country yokels aspect that some might. And…
Don't joke - he was talking last year about a VOD feature starring himself and James Belushi (who guess finally caved - or Aykroyd's just rambling) focusing on a search for a 'younger generation' to pass it on to - specifically, a couple of 20/21 year old girls to be The Blues Sisters.
I re-watched the first two Austin Powers recently (I remember being disappointed by the third, other than the occasional moment - mostly Michael Caine and the bizarre Vanilla Sky poster gag at the start - so I skipped that one) and was surprised to find that the second one holds up so much better than the first. It…
GREMLINS 2: THE NEW BATCH
They're not "Pegg and Frost works" - they're Pegg and Wright works. Not to downplay Frost's great contributions with his performances but Pegg and Wright are the screenwriters (as well as Spaced of course).
"a guy who spent his 20s and into his 30s reading high fantasy novels while awkwardly asking girls out."
Kind of like how Bowfinger started both the funny Steve Martin and funny Eddie Murphy comebacks, but then didn't.
Whoah whoah whoah.. are you suggesting it's not? Pep Streebeck is one of Hank's greatest roles and the one I hope the have on-screen during his Oscars In Memoriam clip.
I'm assuming they mean in terms of getting the big Marvel characters right. Out of the villains used so far I'd say only Red Skull and Loki are big, important Marvel villains comparable to their heroes in terms of their status in fandom, and Loki was great (Red Skull not so much but that was mostly due to the weird…
I'm glad you mentioned his wry humour. Chris Evan's deadpan yet wholesome/cheery delivery is fantastic. One of my favourite moments in Ultron is the moment between him and Thor in the opening battle.
How I Met Your Mother of Dragons.
Turns out it's a win, lose or draw situation.
I saw it in IMAX 3D and it was like having my eyes and ears massaged for a couple of hours. The film itself is fun but hollow but the visuals and especially that Daft Punk soundtrack, played that loud with that much bass - absolutely fantastic experience.
I was ten when it came out - the perfect age. The experience I had watching that film for the first time is how I imagine ten year old kids in 1977 felt watching Star Wars.
I don't think that's true all over (and I say this as someone who lists Jurassic Park as their favourite film) - I mean, compare the gallimimus stampede to the work done in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes for example. It doesn't take anything away from Jurassic Park and I agree that the work done on it still puts a lot…
