Worked fine with Donna. And that wasn't exactly a great/beloved character when they brought her back so they were already on the backfoot.

Counter-point: The Big Bang was the best series finale the show has ever done, wrapping up the series and its themes in a beautiful, wonderful, exciting and bloody entertaining way. One of Moffat's best episodes.
Definitely. We so often see regeneration through the eyes of outsiders, it was nice to catch a glimpse of how it's dealt with between Time Lords where it's a less fantastical part of life.
Reminds me of one of the most stubborn bits of debate I've seen on Gallifrey Base where an anti-Big Finish fan was stating that it doesn't at all make those canonical because "those could be anyone's names - just because they match the names of those characters doesn't mean they are".
Well, WhoTube at least.
Completely agree with all of this. I'm a huge fan of the character and never took it as a 'fuck you' to me or anyone else who cared. It's horribly tragic because we cared about her.
In the trailer there's a moment where Ray Winstone comes to take the Ark and snarls that he has 1,000 men at his back and Noah stands alone. Cut to a close-up of Crowe saying in a defiant, confident yet humble tone "I'm not alone". It's a small moment but I really liked his unshaken faith and the dignified way it's…
What was Mendes' one idea? Because he went on to do Road to Perdition, Jarhead, Skyfall/SPECTRE and Away We Go, all very different from American Beauty. The closest you could get in comparison is Revolutionary Road in terms of the focus on a married couple in suburbia but it's again a different film thanks to it's…
They gave away the animation rights.
I'll stick up for Peter's dance as a throwback to the Raindrops montage in 2, except in this one he's a dick. I like the idea at least, if the execution is messy.
Upvoted with so much passion for the Short Circuit 2 shout-out.
Then you've had a very good movie-going year!
To be fair, Tennant's regeneration scene felt like twelve hours.
""The Doctor's Daughter" is somehow both overstuffed and underheated" - that's the best summary of that episode that I've heard.
At least none of them are bad - Poison Sky is cartoony but fun and The Doctor's Daughter is a good idea with how the war works but just a bit dull. I'm a big fan of The Unicorn and the Wasp, mostly because of how much fun The Doctor and Donna have. It's just a giant romp of an episode which, for me, is perfect for…
Name is worth a solid grade for River's surprisingly low-key and sweet goodbye scene. Whoever says that Moffat can't do emotion is wrong - that was pitch-perfect. Even if we're seeing her again, that was The Doctor's final goodbye to her (for all intents and purposes) and Moffat nailed it - especially with it coming…
Completely agree on those four as the top four but I'd go five, nine (assuming the finale delivers), four, eight.
Eric Roberts has 63 acting credits for this year according to imdb, and 33 already sorted for next year. Lack of work is not his problem. Turning stuff down, perhaps
If his regeneration stance is standing with his right arm held in the air after one final giant strum of the guitar then it will be the greatest regeneration there ever was or will be.
The Doctor's Wife absolutely belongs there due to not only being the best of the sixth series but also revealing how Eleven feels about the Time War compared to Ten, something which comes up later in Day of the Doctor. Plus it discusses The Doctor's relationship with the TARDIS. Plus Michael Sheen!
