I agree with this, but I think so does everyone else. No one is comparing John Mulaney to Bill Cosby, Harvey Weinstein, Mel Gibson, Ellen DeGeneres, Woody Allen, Alec Baldwin, Joss Whedon, or literally ANY other celebrity who’s been MeeTooed, accused of bigotry, or being mean to their staff. No one. Not a single

So? I’m a Mulaney fan and his messy marriage situation hasn’t changed that one bit, but why does it matter?

I like John Mulaney, I’m glad he’s hosting again, the other two are cool too. But, and I know I’m alone on this:

Yeah why isn’t ordering a bunch of pizzas at a wedding a thing? Everyone likes it, you can customise for dietary restrictions, you save a ton of money.

It’s something we make fun of literally all the time. First Wives Club came out in 1996. Death Becomes Her in 1994. If you think family friendly mainstream movies starring Goldie Hawn are dark and edgy, sure. You think Joan Rivers was edgy? Every Oscar host?

Hard same. It’s especially disappointing because Samberg and especially Mulaney are capable of so much more. This looks like something Mulaney would make fun of in his standup.

Eh. “I’m going to announce the joke! I referenced something! Remember that thing!”

Same. To be fair, I can’t think of a single millennial reboot I’ve been excited about. Not Fuller House or Saved By the Bell or Will and Grace or Sabrina or the existence of Kyle Mooney in general. I was kind of excited for Animaniacs, which I loved back then, but I haven’t gotten around to watching it.

That’s exactly the kind of terrible, self-indulgent, done a million times, immediately stale “joke” that would fit right in.

I wonder what the crossover is for nostalgia for lesser 90s cartoons, vs fans of the actors and writers. The past year has revealed a deep, deep, Mulaney fandom, and I’m not sure there’s crossover with those fans, and this.

It didn’t sound like any of them were voice acting. It was comedians doing their comedy persona.

It doesn’t feel like Josie and the Pussycats at all. That movie had a silly, light, plot, but it had its own story. It could exist entirely without the comic books. The movie even jokes about that, when Alexandra says I’m just here because I was in the comics.

It’s kind of funny, but I don’t see what’s dark or mean about it.

I barely  remember the stuff they’re parodying. Maybe because I’m slightly younger? Grew up in Canada? But even though I’m as lost and depressed as anyone else in their late 30s who never got over the high of being smart in grade school, this doesn’t appeal to me at all? Hey, remember that thing? That sure was a

Really? All the media aimed at people our age for the last 20 years has been meta. “Hey, remember our childhoods? Wasn’t that stuff dumb? But I want to watch it anyway so let’s be ironic!”

Why is Gal Gadot cancelled? The dorky “Imagine” thing from a few years ago?

I can’t think of a single romantic comedy he’s ever done. His brother, on the other hand...

I only saw a few scenes of Notting Hill but OH MY GOD was it bad, and I never ever got Hugh Grant as a romantic lead. He oozes smarm, and his later roles, where he gets to be gross and sleazy (Bridget Jones, About A Boy) are infinitely better than the ones where he has to stammer. I never got who found that cute.

Eh. How many times can they do the exact same joke, which makes less and less sense each time they do it.
