Thing is, he doesn’t really owe us details - it’s an open secret that Joss Whedon is a piece of crap. We didn’t know the details of him firing Charisma, but it’s been known he did it because she was pregnant for a long time. And his ex-wife wrote an open letter a few years back detailing some of his abuse and

If I were to make this, I’d make two crusts. Put cheese and no sauce on one. Put the other one on top like normal, smash the crusts together, bake.

I saw the Pączki display at my big chain supermarket two weeks ago. I assumed Fat Tuesday already happened because who buys donuts in advance? That’s the worst food to buy ahead. The advantage of filled donuts is you can be creative. Why not add peanut butter or nutella to the filling? Or custard. Everyone likes a

I feel the same way about filled donuts, sufganyiot in particular which based on regional proximity, I’m assuming is similar.

It’s not really cross cultural though? Turkey isn’t far from Italy. The Mediterranean countries all have similar foods. I had Manakish when I was in Israel. It’s usually zataar, with or without a tiny bit of cheese, they also have a tomato version. Or spicy lamb.

What the article called Old Forge pizza is fast food pizza. When you need to order a lot of pizzas for a crowd, so you get the square ones, which are a bit cheaper and in plain cheese because who wants to deal with everyone’s topping  preferences?

This is a really long slideshow to show that pizza has only a few minor variations.

I grew up in Toronto. We have a significant Italian community and a food scene. Now I’m wondering if “Toronto pizza” is a noticeable thing. Basically NY but less oily.

Most of those Snookies and Situations come from New York.

What we think of as NY pizza was brought to New York by Neapolitan immigrants. But so was Sicilian pizza and honestly, just about every place in Southern Europe and the Middle East has their form of dough + cheese + tomato, baked until hot. Laffa with zataar and hummus is vegan pizza.

Why wouldn’t New Jersey, a state with probably the largest per capita number of Italian immigrants, have good pizza?

That’s focaccia. You’re describing focaccia. Which is good, but why give it a new name?

It’s a salad, except on a thin cracker? I mean OK? It doesn’t sound BAD, exactly, but who’s it for? People who want to feel like they’re eating healthy but want pizza? The gram?

Now playing

Makes me think of this. I know this sketch is a send up of Chuck E Cheese and not that strage kidz bob marketed to pre-teens, but same vibe.

I think part of it is dark chocolate is a stronger flavour, so you eat less at a time. The fact that milk is a more immediate taste means you eat more of it. Only eating dark chocolate is a way to eat less. And we’re just talking bars, here. Bake with milk chocolate, or mix it with milk or cream, you taste nothing.

Which one goes with caramel, peanut butter, or salt? The best things to go with chocolate.

It’s an interesting question. What bread + cheese + tomato isn’t pizza? I think a grilled or toasted cheese and tomato sandwich qualifies. Tomato sauce of some kind, eaten with focaccia and and melted cheese? Sure.

I’ve never had Chicago pizza but it sounds like a quiche or deep tart. Both of which are amazing. Pastry + roasted tomatoes + cheese? Good. My deeply non-Italian grandmother, who I don’t think even visited Chicago, used to do something like that but in a shallow tart pan.

Sicilian pizza seems like hot focaccia with too much cheese?

There was an article in HuffPo about how after the Janet Jackson Superbowl thing, Moonves was obsessed with ruining her career. Even decades later, he tried to stop her autobiography being published.
