There’s a gross fratboy joke that was on an episode of Family Guy and I’ve heard in a few other places: Who would you rather have sex with, Queen Latifah or Halle Berry if she’s been dead for six hours. So you might not think she’s plus-sized, but people apparently think she’s hideous.

Melissa McCarthy DID play a romantic lead of sorts on a sitcom. Honestly I think her age is holding her back more than her size here.

I think he’s saying pumpkin spice lattes are basically hot ice cream. Which they are.

I get black coffee there only. I go there for the being somewhere else.

Fascinating article, but so weird to me. I suppose this is why it’s dumb to generalise based on your personal preferences. In the before time, I’d go to Statbucks all the time, because it’s a third way. I work from home and if I need a break or want to look at different walls, I go there. It makes sense to hold job

The right does this all the time. Remember Clarence Thomas and the high-tech lynching? The right loves to weaponise accusations of racism and sexism.

The solution to systemic and subconscious bias isn’t to shield individual bad actors from criticism because they’re minorities. That just feeds into the model minority expectation and places an unfair demand on black people that they have to be perfect all the time.

Once a year, in normal times, my friend has a Christmas party. It’s the one time a year I let myself bake cookies, because I can’t be trusted around cookies. I’ve rotated a bunch in and out over the years, but the standards are

I don’t trust myself around chocolate chip cookies and now I have no excuse to give them away so I don’t make them. I’ve heard great things about the Doubletree cookies. Those, and the Levain bakery ones. There is really nothing like a very good chocolate chip cookie right from the oven.

Right. Oops.

Oh yeah. I forgot about that, probably because March was 500 years ago. 2020 has been going on since the Cenozoic era. I can’t be expected to remember anything that happened since before Trump’s taxes. That was literally less than a month ago btw.

Leslie Jones was 47 when she was hired and she was great. What you’re suggesting was actually the original premise of the show, where George Coe would be the straight man the young exciting comics would play off. Darrell Hammond was the same vibe, though, and he worked. His impressions were great and that’s basically

I said that last week! All his recurring buts suck. I’m glad he seems to have retired the Bruce Chandling character. His “Hey remember the 90s!” videos have no POV or joke beyond that the 90s, um, existed and his “Oh look a skinny white guy trying to be cool and black” is the most tired comic premise in the universe.

Maybe that was it. I just thought the idea had run out of gas. It felt obligatory.

I like Bill Hicks but I thought his monologue was bad and he’s one of the unfortunate comics who sounds like a cranky old man years before his time. Bringing up John Wayne? NO ONE is trying to “cancel” John Fucking Wayne, an actor only old boomers care about. Really. This is not a thing. It’s not a denial of free

I wonder how a New Yorker would feel about that sentiment. Yeah but OUR diners are different! OUR convenience store bathrooms are different! OUR big international airports are different!

I didn’t see it that way. Electing Biden is a beginning, not an end. Acting like getting rid of Trump means everything is great seems like the 2016 sentiment to me. I thought the bit reflected the reality of the post-AOC political landscape.

The Canadian version of the show did Mochi. They had an International Week. It was great. I love mochi.

Also baking food from another culture isn’t appropriation. Food is really the one area where it changes all the time.

It’s so awful when leftists don’t behave like the dumb syereotype of leftists that only exists in my deluded right-wing echo chamber! How dare they not conform to the stereotype I’ve decided they believe!
