Makes sense. It’s an acquired taste. But you know how “Pineapple on pizza? Ew!” is a thing now? Back then it was about anchovies. Kids being excited to order a pizza and then disgusted it has anchovies on it, or the glutton character ordering a pizza with no anchovies, were stock jokes.

Something to be said about how much of our reality is shaped by Hollywood. You think Trump happens if he hadn’t been playing a rich businessman character on tv for 30 years?

It’s a cliche from the 80s. From kids’ shows and stuff. Order pizzas to someone’s house. It’s one of those weird things like anchovies on pizza, that were everywhere in the 80s and then disappeared.

They never would have done it without McGruder’s permission.

Right? Basically expensive, tasty, cheetos.

My theory is our generation grew up in a comfortable, secure world and then once we became adults everything went to hell and we are the first generation expected to do worse than our parents. We crave our childhoods.

Obviously. And it still doesn’t get to my main point, which no journalist ever mentions, that:

Also Whole Foods sells bread and sugary cereal! Why is no one challenging Mackey on this. Most of the food in a Whole Foods is bad for you! It just costs more and tastes better.

That’s important but it doesn’t refute Mackey’s dumb argument. HIS store sells junk food and processed food and ready to eat food and ice cream and candy and popcorn!

Yes, frozen vegetables are as healthy as fresh. And you know what else? You know those challenges where rich people are given a poor-person food budget for a month, to show you can eat cheaply, healthy, and food that tastes good? AND these rich people are starting off with stocked spice cabinets and kitchen equipment

The guy quoted in this article said none of these things. He simply noted that there are correlations between susceptibility to the worst effects of covid, and obesity. The response to this claim that Jez has written up here is not even a response, it’s a bunch of deflection (you can get healthy food at regular old

It’s weird he chose those as examples too. Like Whole Foods doesn’t sell “French-fried potatoes”, popcorn and ice cream 🙄

Also, has he BEEN in his own store? Most of what he sells is high calorie, palatable food, displayed to encourage impulse buying. Not to mention all the ready meals they sell. And their bakery section. And their pizzas. And their huge cheese section.

No one’s arguing with the importance of a healthy lifestyle, it’s just that a healthy lifestyle is not equally accessible, and is completely inaccessible to many. It is not a “personal choice” for most people, and when it is framed as such that’s when people get “attacked by the left.” The targets should be systemic

Almost everyone who suggests we should lose weight, exercise, eat better, or take vitamins to help prevent the worst effects of the virus gets attacked by left leaning media. This man is rich and owns an expensive grocery chain so he is wrong. As a nurse I have yet to treat a marathon runner for amputation related to

Right but wouldn’t a stan know who Leighton’s husband is? Seems a basic requirement for standom.

That surprised me. I feel like all those things are known. I was a teenager when that show came out and stand-in and pilot aren’t new and the idea of spoiled, backstabbing actresses having eating disorders or substance abuse problems and scheming and sleeping around to get ahead, are cliches even back then.

I didn’t watch this shows but the bikini wax jeans! The wet-looking overly-styled hair! The shelf hair on the guys. You can tell within like 3 years exactly when this aired.

The disturbing part is I don’t think anyone thinks Biden will win. Nothing about this election feels like Biden will win.

Leslie Jones was in her 40s when she was hired. So was Michael McKean I believe. She was a great hire.
