Quinto played Spock before he came out. NPH played Barney before he came out. Ellen Page played Kitty Pryde before she came out. None of them have been cast in anything as high-profile after they came out. They got to continue playing parts they already had, but that’s it.

I think actors from Zachary Quinto to Ellen Page to Neal Patrick Harris would disagree with you. That argument has been old and out of date for a decade.

I agree with that. And the conversation needs to start with normalizing openly gay actors.

Nina Simone’s entire career was defined by how she had to fight hard her whole life because record execs didn’t believe in a woman with what we think of as African features. They only wanted biracial black women like Dorothy Dandridge and Lena Horne.

I thought that missed the point on all sides. The point isn’t about playing different kinds of characters. The point is WHY is a straight person playing gay/trans an automatic Oscar nomination? Why do we do that? Why is that code for SERIOUS ACTING?

That misses the point. If acting is about being someone you’re not, then why can’t an openly gay actor play an action star or a romantic lead or a war hero or a historical figure or a Tom Hanks role? Why does that never ever ever happen?

Maybe that’s good. I’m sick of stunt acting. Actors gaining or losing dangerous amounts of weight impresses people, and it shouldn’t. Just act.

Because openly gay actors can’t get cast in anything except sassy best friend unless they’re Ian McKellan. Meanwhile, straight actors play gay or trans on wear a fake nose and they win an Oscar. That’s fucked up.

Kinders are completely inedible, though. Not even as a mindless eating distraction snack.

Not sure I’ve ever had a payday? Are they available in Canada?

That’s the one.

Apparently the “Night Cheese” joke on 30 Rock also cost 5 figures. It’s the melody to a song I’d never even heard of.

He’s technically right, but the more relevant question is why there are so few non-white voice actors voicing white characters?

The short story was mostly a send-up of Brooklyn hipster cliches that would feel very, very, dated now.

I watched Saved By The Bell as a kid bit I really really don’t gt 90s nostalgia. It was a shitty show I used to like. Kids like lots of dumb things. Why do we need to revisit them as adults? I feel the same way about the Full House reboot. Nostalgia is creepy.

I’m still mad he and Schumer got played by McConnel and left a SCOTUS seat open for a year. Judges are everything. That was lazy and cowardly. If Obama had forced it, Garland would be on the Supreme Court, Kennedy might not have retired since the balance didn’t favour his decisions, and the unspeakable damage of a

So you’re one of the people who literally needs alcohol to have fun. That sounds awful.”

I think about this as it relates to food. Eating less, on whatever plan you choose to do it, IS about joyless restriction. We hate fat people but we also say people trying to lose weight are pathetic victims of diet culture who can’t relax and have fun and hate sex. Similar to alcohol, I think. The only image of

This is interesting. I don’t drink much but I’ve tried OA a few times. Everyone knows the dismal stats for permanent weight loss.

That’s been huge for me. If I roast chicken I strip the rest I didn’t eat off the bones and shred. Add to things over the next few days. I also keep roasted cauliflower or spaghetti squash in the fridge in batches. And you can cook potatoes in the microwave (especially if you cut them up). Pasta and rice never tastes
