I’m with you on this. A slice of cheese is a gift from the heavens. But it is not something I eat as an ingredient, and it is not an ingredient I miss at all.
Cheese was the only one I ate with any regularity (it’s not like it was RARE for me to eat the other two, but they just weren’t daily staples), but I was honestly surprised by how little I missed cheese inthings.
I grew up in the 90s, but I never had one of these. I wonder how they taste with an adult palette sans nostalgia.
People are seriously being macho about going to trendy or expensive restaurants and eating fancy food? THAT’S what they’re gatekeeping? That’s what they’re saying women aren’t smart or brave or tough or competent enough to do properly? That we need a man, because evolution or whatever made it so only men can…
This is a really minor example, but when my husband and I get soft drinks while we’re out to eat, most of the time the server gives me his Sprite and him my Coke. It would never have occurred to me that these sodas are gendered, but here we are
The whole “women have Job X until it reaches pro level, then they have to yield to men” strikes me as phenomenally hypocritical. Women have to cook at home, but they can’t be pro chefs. Women are artsy-fartsy fluffy creatives, until you want to sell in a gallery. Etc.
I was confused by the whole thing. Separate priceless menus exist? For real? And restaurants go through all the effort and expense of printing them up just to give to women? Who I assume then ask for a normal menu, with the prices? Why would this ever be a thing?
I ask this all the time but I want an answer. Who the hell is the audience for this? Saved by the Bell was a cheesy kids’ show and I watched it back then too, but why would anyone want to watch a sequel? If you want the nostalgia hit the actual old episodes are all online. Why watch something bad?
Was coming to post this! Yeah the first season was SUPER cheap. The special effects were high school play level so I’m not surprised they wouldn’t spring for new credits.
Sure, but I think we’re in an Occam’s Razor situation — most people watching Home Alone 2 in 2019 probably don’t remember he used to own that hotel, and on broadcast television cuts need to be made for time/ads. It’s the absolute easiest way to make the movie fit. Thinking the CBC did it for any other reason is…
There are tweets from 2015 that verify that the scene has been cut for several years for time.
I hate this shit. Watch. It’s going to enter the public consciousness as “SJW anti-Trump overreach! Canadian (lefty!) public broadcaster (lefty!) personally removed footage of Trump from an old kids’ movie out of spite! (LOL triggered snowflakes!) It will survive this way because it perfectly fits a popular cultural…
I do not get how Scarlett Johannson became such a target of the mob for daring to want to play, um, roles? Isn’t that what actors do? Why is it that she is the only one not allowed to play characters that are gay, trans, or whatever? Sean Penn played Harvey Milk and won an Oscar. I never saw one comment how “he…
Remember, they hired a new cast member recently and within days he went on a right wing racist screed that got him dropped from the cast. But the important thing is they had already hired him.
I don’t think the show hates the left at all. The cast and crew just know the left better bc it’s who they are. It’s much easier to write comedy about people and things you understand than people you never meet or speak too. How many conservatives do you think Che talks to in a week? I bet it’s close to zero.
The older I get the harder it is for me to care so much about what other people like to do with their spare time. Unless a movie/book/tv show is actively promoting hate... it’s really hard to imagine a world where the unproductive things I do to unwind are in some objectively better than the unproductive things other…
Most of these characters haven’t been around in 3-4 years. They do still take shots at the left, but it feels much more scattershot now, as much of a blob as the rest of modern SNL and SNL’s view on pop culture or politics. So many different points of view which end up canceling each other out.
The Daily Show was just an inconsequential fake news(!) show with a smarmy “anchorman” and Crank Yankers/BattleBots as a lead-in on Comedy Central until 9/11. That event profoundly changed Jon Stewart and the whole tone of The Daily Show (as it did Dennis Miller, but in the completely opposite direction).
