I don’t get Ben and Jerry’s. Seems like their ice cream is a race to get most of the ice cream out and replaced with caramel and brownie pieces or whatever. Why not just eat the mixins and stop calling it ice cream?

Bush didn’t really deceive us though. Democrats were too pussy to call obvious lies. obvious lies, because then the GOP would accuse them of supporting terrorists and hating America, and the Democrats would look like a bunch of dumb college peacenik hippies, and everyone knows that big wars are manly and grownup.

That was my point. Trump is still exponentially worse.

At this point, I really don’t know what a comedy show’s “take” on Donald Trump that would make people like the reviewer happy but still actually get laughs look like. Sort of feels like the reaction to when he hosted, where short of the entire cast literally burning him in effigy, whatever they do will be derided as

I liked Baskin, but did realize she was the same character as the YouTube girl.

I disliked Baskin Johns. She reminded me too much of when Heidi played the teenage movie reviewer. Same vocal cadence, same type of behavior.

I thought this was the funniest sketch of the night (not saying a lot, but still). It nailed that weird thig where you know Cosby hasn’t processed what happened and is still, in his mind, lovalble ol’ Dr. Huxtable/intellectual leader of the black community and he’s just waiting for all this unpleasantness to blow

I don’t know, man. All these “That guy is a rapist, so let’s acknowledge this by remembering his wacky on-screen persona” jokes feel a bit weird to me. I’m not against mocking Cosby, but there is sure a better way than this.

Here’s something no one predicted: the MadTV cast members are making movies with far more pointed political satire than the SNL cast members.

He’s a former child star who’s best known as the guy who does a Bill Cosby impression. By all logic he should be performing on minor cruise ships and yet here he is. On SNL. And he’s never leaving AND most of his characters are pretty good. Good for him.

It really is amazing I’ve been watching him on TV since I was like 8 years old in the 1990s. Everyday French with Pierre S. Cargo!

I don’t want to be that guy, but we do know of one real person in the Good Place. In the Pilot, Michael said Lincoln is in there, and he’s the only US President who is.

Sure. I just think it’s interesting that no one ever labels Pizza Hut inauthentic even though no one has ever eaten that at home. Or McDonalds. Or wings places. And definitely with fancy restaurants. With “white” food, we get that restaurants are their own thing.

The concept of authenticity is bullshit anyway. Pand Express isn’t what they eat in China, but neither are a lot of hipster or fancy restaurants. Because the Chinese people who run the fancy/hipster places want to innovate and be part of the same food culture as white people. Besides, it’s restaurant food. “American”

I took Kevin’s point to be that, now that he’s a suburban DAD, there are additional criteria to meet - the most important being young kid-friendly. So while I’m sure there are ample family-run places to be found in the ‘burbs, it may be dicey in terms of whether (and how well) they accommodate small children. In lieu

Of course. Immigrants move to and buy homes in the suburbs. They aren’t the ones paying a fortune for a tiny apartment because it’s downtown in a heritage building and is close to the good nightlife. The idea that the suburbs are for the rich white people in polo shirts and dockers is way out of date.

Exactly. If you want real non-American food, you go to the suburbs.

Also, brunch is awesome. And cheaper than dinner. And everyone likes it. And usually less waiting. I think it’s hilarious how so many contrarian types need to hate brunch, just because it’s popular. Of course it’s popular! It’s good!

I don’t shit on chain restaurants, because I don’t attach morality to food and if you like them, more power too you. But you can go to a non-chain restaurant, pay the same or cheaper, and get WAY WAY better food. And if I’m going to blow a ton of calories and money on a meal out, I don’t want to waste in to

This whole concept seems outdated? The suburbs have the bland chain restaurants, but they also have the immigrant communities, since only rich white people can afford to live downtown anymore. So if you want authentic Chinese/Sri Lankan/Italian/Jamaican food, you’re going to a suburban strip mall in a ticky-tacky
