IMO it felt kinda lame at the time. There were many others ads with pop culture characters (Ken & Ryu, Darth Vader, Cindirella, Ghostface, King Kong, Lara Croft, Lucky Luke...).

Here in France, Goku is used in McDonalds ads, merging with an order machine. So you know, the olympics ad feels kinda trivial...

I actually think Rare games didn’t age as well (and yet god knows I LOVED them, and still love collect-a-thon games). I tried to go back to Banjo-Kazooie after 100%ing the Switch Mario 64 port and found out that, IMO, it’s the simplicity of the controls and level design that make this game still hold up. Something…

This is ridiculous. They should leave everything open and declare it’s not their problem (because... it isn’t). But they won’t do that because everyone will jump at them saying “Microsoft supports murdering [insert whatever you want here]”.

But we wouldn’t know it’s the best design if nobody had try something different before the industry circled back to this layout 😊

Yeah. Ironically, 99% of these early 3D games have aged terribly.

Obvisously, you were not supposed to reach every button on the controller and you were not supposed to reposition your hands while playing. This is just not how the controller was designed. You could reach the same number of buttons using the stick or the d-pad.

The same can be said of... well, anything.

You are looking at it with 2021 eyes. It’s kinda easy to say “meh” now when gamepad design had 25 more years to evolve.

Unless you’re in a hurry, I don’t see the problem with Bowser. I mean, you just had to dick around for like 2 minutes if you really needed big Bowser out there (which is, for like 15 shines you can also grab on the fly).
