Yeah I guess I phrased it poorly, "and" would be more more my meaning than "to".

"taking the initiative to get herself out of her miserable life and go on to do what she wants"

The fact that Batman and Wonder Woman weren't allowed on Smallville (and apparently aren't allowed on The CW shows now) is insane.

My problem is with the resolution. All you're talking about is the conflict.

"There are so many things Hollywood thinks that only a man can do"

"still don't understand there being anything wrong with a woman wanting a night off and going to a party."

What's don't you like about the costume? I'm not a fan of some of the design choices on an aesthetic level, but the character has seen a lot worse as far as objectification goes.

the film’s story is “about a girl becoming a woman,” so “only a woman” would “be able to tell the story in the right way.”

"Parades herself around? She puts on a dress, goes to a ball and dances with a guy"

I like fetish gear as much as the next freak, but that doesn't make Zack Snyder any less of a scourge on the modern blockbuster.

I am.

Not buying it. She fixes herself up, parades herself around, and a rich man whisks her away from her miserable life. That's what it boils down to. If I recall correctly the Kenneth Branagh version even goes part way to combatting that by having the prince be into her before the fairy godmother gets involved at all.

It's also the one Disney princess movie where the prince isn't a bit crap or a Beast. I think Cinderella (getting a makeover to impress a boy) and The Little Mermaid (sacrificing your voice to impress a boy) are a little more problematic…

Maybe he's testing him out to be a captain on Trek to really mess with people.

Can anybody fill me in on why there was hate for Dane Cook pre-joke stealing? His persona always seemed to be in the Chris Pratt/Ryan Reynolds ballpark to me.

Maybe they're talking about when they were declassified?

I feel like you're conflating caring with entitlement.

Of course you can, you can be disappointed that something fails on its own terms, as opposed to yours.

Giacchino was MVP. Can't wait to hear what he does with Doctor Strange.

I just re-watched that scene. Damn, I miss Josh Holloway! Maybe I should check out Colony. Doesn't look like AVC have written about it…
