I thought the Lotus Seven was an Allard rip-off? So therefore it is even more surprising that it looks new. Even though it actually looks like an antique jalopy.
@smackela: In 1986, my family was driving a new Pontiac Parisienne wood sided wagon that would not have been out of place in the 1970s.
@smackela: I remember my aunt bought a Taurus when it first came out and to 12-year-old me it seemed like a space ship.

@dmoon: When not festooned with wings, ground effects and all the other crap people like to put on these, it has to be one of the cleanest designs out there. It still looks great, and also is a car that is pleasing from either end (or any angle, really)

I've never watched Top Gear outside of one YouTube video, but it seemed to me like cranky old British men making fun of each other and some cars.
If it were an Esprit I would have assumed it broke down and he coasted it to a stop out of the lane of traffic.
