Oh they were a huge deal. Working class people listened to them. Managing Directors at my Lehman Brothers listened to them. Their meltdown in 2004 as the Yankees lost the ALCS to the Red Sox is sports talk radio gold. But they are history, just like the VHS tapes that taped their damn, un-listenable show.
I think Mushnik is doing what a lot of people do - conflating the facts with what he thinks happened. In other words, he’s remembering things that didn’t happen. Eyewitnesses do it all the time with real time events, and its easy to get caught up in it.
