Taxed on CO2, so a 3.0l with 1 bar of boost would come out pretty much the same as the 6.2l. Except that the testing regime allows manufacturers to design engine maps that stay off boost in the test cycle, producing great CO2/mpg figures in the lab that won’t be replicable in real-world driving.

It’s never enforced at 70mph, so you end up with a fuzzy grey area kind of de facto soft-limit of 85ish. But then if you get caught at 90mph you’re punished for being 20 over, so ...

Maths sounds about right to me, but to be honest I’d be surprised if you’ll get any change from £70k.

It’s really more relevant to the road. If you’re going to buy a sporty car, you want one that’s engaging in every day use - and manual shifting definitely heightens your involvement. Otherwise you’re not driving, you’re just steering.
