All of which are worse cars than the Boxster S.

That’s what is known as keming.

I know a guy with an Autodelta supercharged Brera. Never heard of an engine swap though.

The one in the video has the Super Sport engine upgrades, though not the high-speed aero bits.

Pushes more weight into the back tire rather than lifting the nose.

Also most of those are islands, so the ‘switch at the border’ thing is kind of moot.

Aren’t those round lamps the actual headlights, because the ones in the headlight position are pretty much exactly at the level of everyone else’s rear-view mirrors?

Pinkeye edition?

It’s so boring. Hopefully the fad will pass eventually.

They’ve moved away from that gaping-maw grill design now, thankfully.

Breras are reliable, they just aren’t very good.

Michelin and Porsche developed new tires for it a couple of years ago - magazines who’ve retested the Carrera GT on them say that they transform the car and make it compliant and manageable on the limit now.

The other side of the story is probably that Top Gear wanted to do a serious bit with it, but found they had a lemon and improvised the ‘comically falling apart’ angle instead - they needed to shoot something with it after all. But Hawk’s reputation got trampled on in the process.

Sure, but if all the development that had gone into the V8 had been applied to an engine with a larger capacity, you’d have a lighter faster car than the 918.

So all that complexity for 3 seconds over 7 minutes. Also I’m guessing they’d have gone with a bigger engine if it was designed as a non-hybrid - a certain 5.7L V10 would have probably been easy to acquire.

You’re right, I noticed that as soon as I actually played the video :)

Spiders are great on night rally stages though.

I think it had a crate V8 in it though. Other than that, probably better than new.

The Hawk guy had a good rant about that. Apparently that was a customer car that had been rallied and left standing, and the producers pressed ahead without giving him time to get it sorted.

Makes you wonder how fast the 918 could be if it was designed as a pure ICE vehicle.
