1st Gear: And even with all this info shareholders are forcing GM, Ford, FCA etc to act the same way.

The US Navy does it daily. Sure they have had some issues but to date it has not been a huge issue.

Sure they can, you can lose money on something developed because the cost to keep the supply lines running, transportation, time they sit on the lot, hefty discounts dealers are giving just to get rid of them. This is not in the span of the whole cars life, but more of a here and now thing. The line may be profitable

So it was a boat that bombed the Cole, not a car. A quick google would have told you this.

They would still lose money because of the time to develop something like that. Also manufacturers don’t give a shit about that that so anything they can do to get you in. I have had two different dealers tell me that I was doing my yearly maintenance wrong and needed to bring the car in or I might void my warranty.

So the Taurus is apparently dead as well, I did not know that when I made this comment. CHP is heading to SUVs at a rapid pace.

I can see contempt elsewhere, well at least for us in the US. There are things they do that is just frustrating as hell.

Ford is HUGE in Europe, they have the 4th best selling car for 2017 over there, it was number 2 in 2014. Europe is very interesting to Ford.

I may have missed it but they could be referring to just the US market.

They have a very good excuse for it, to get you to the dealer.

That stuff takes time but they will be keeping it in their back pocket no doubt. The real supply chain issues will be getting the cars over here from Europe. I wouldn’t be surprised if they have this stuff already negotiated if the issue ever came up. Dealers won’t be a issue, if they are not selling anything they

You will either shop elsewhere or get talked into a SUV. Ford knows this and has taken that into account here, they feel they are better off either way.

Their new subcompact is the Ecosport, compact is the Escape, and intermediate is the Edge. Welcome to 2019 America, where SUVs have replaced sedans, coupes, and hatchbacks.

If we need small cars Ford will be fine. The nature of their global company structure means they can just grab these cars from other markets and drop them here in short order after only a few changes.

While there was some contempt left over from the base Fiesta ST they nailed the rest of the car.

Police are buying the Taurus more than the Fusion, thats likely why its not on the chopping block yet. But one day it will be, many departments are shifting to CUV/SUV platforms.

I may be missing something but the Fiesta is not Global C.

They are a global company and these cars are going to be sold in Europe, where they came from in the first place. It won’t take them long to respond to this issue.

You are forgetting they are a global company now. All they need to do is pluck the Focus and Fiesta from Europe, change a few things for emissions and crash standards and ship them over. I bet they keep this in their back pocket and it only takes a few months to respond to a gas shortage.

That is possible, I was just working off of google maps.
