I once fixed a gashed engine block leak with jb weld. Of course machining it would be better, but since that isn’t going to happen JB weld is probably a decent alternative.

Anyone who hammers on the end of a wrench or ratchet to loosen a fastener is not allowed in my shop. When dealing sketchy fasteners on old iron, you’re best to leave the impact wrench in the drawer and loosen stuff by hand.
