I disagree. Loved her in Hudsucker and nearly everything else she's been in. Even the movies I'm not all that fond of like Georgia.

I blow hot and cold on this show depending on how well they execute the bullshit. But tonight's episode executed the bullshit with true panache. A or A- material.

I'm not really buying it, though. I figure with Vanessa's heightened sense of the supernatural her spidey sense would have been tingling at the sight of Madame Kali/Poole/Clayton. I know that in order for the show to work I have to ignore it but it irks. Until I realize I'm expecting Penny Dreadful to make real

And here I thought the problem was that I DID watch "Computer Chess" sober.

"Sha da do wop, da shaman do way,
We like Birdman".

And it had everybody going to heaven, too. You're right, I am just so difficult to please.

As a rule I tend to like movies where things happen, which causes other things to happen with some kineticism. So as far as batshit Scarlett Johansson movies I prefer "Lucy" to "Under The Skin". And "The Tree Of Life" was sheer torture once we got to children (ugh) playing in Texas (UGH) for an endless summer.

Well, he was shot the day before. Probably used his energy for running around at night shooting strangers (without identifying himself) and not his diction.

B+? Not the show I was watching. I once again felt a bit betrayed by investing this much time in the show, even as it was getting more and more inconsequential while its themes got bigger, to have payoffs that were either unsatisfying or unbelievable. ("I dreamed you were surrounded by furry animals and that meant

The last we saw Bolivar he was one of those non thinking vampires who lost all his hair. But apparently he's one of those vain non thinking vampires who remembers to put on his wig and glue it on so that he can crash through windows with it.
This is such an unholy mess of a show, I'm enjoying it thoroughly-but

I enjoyed spending so much time with Kelly. Not the "oh, where is the beloved mother of my son" angle. Eph has just become an egotistical dead weight to the story, somehow. But seeing Kelly slowly turn from bland school teacher cypher to feral blood sucking hunter hearing voices was effectively creepy on its own

It went against self preservation rules that Gus would throw the gun away before running into the vampire infested night in his bright orange prison jumper.

Nah, it says something about the show.
If Sonya was going to be killed, she would have just been killed. What kind of hit man is this legendary Chopper guy anyway? The only reason I'm watching this show now is because I've watched it this long, might as well finish it out.

I've watched this again and let it settle a bit and I still think that this is where the show begins to betray its audience. I hope I'm wrong and I'll be watching tonight to see if they steer the ship back but I think we're back in the terrain of last season. Start with interesting characters (although Sonya and

My wife expects Dorian to form an indie band.

I think Eva Green is doing some great stuff and the sets are mighty impressive but I was really wondering why I'm still watching this show. And now I know. It's to read your recaps. Hopefully they'll be more.

Wow. I thought they were going to talk about Art. Or things that strive towards Art. But the things that people are talking about are meant more as entertainments and they can't stand when their entertainments start looking/sounding like Art. "Music is the one bit of entertainment I don't want to think about"
