Whenever people talk about unionizing video games and reducing crunch I always immediately think that it won’t lead to better conditions here and will just move those jobs overseas where they can exploit people even more severely and hire more workers for the same amount of money increasing the net human suffering...

I like endings as well, and when you have a game with an ending you play it until then (or, if you’re like most people, 50-75% of the way through) and then move onto a new game.
But live service games live and die based on the endgame. Because people sticking around and playing it day after day are the people who pay

Yes... but it was also cherry picking half of a sentence from a six paragraph mini-essay as the sole rebuttal.

  • The spectre of microtransactions, which have infringed on basically every live game to some degree, didn’t turn out nearly as intrusive as prospective players feared.

Yeah, this is where context matters so much.

Kinda.

Well... when the augment is “they didn’t want a black man at the center of their movie” and they go and (potentially) make their second biggest character a black man and the center of that movie, it does kinda undercut that argument.

The issue with this continues to be hearsay. Fisher didn’t hear these conversations and had them reported to him by a second party, and all kinds of context could have been lost. It becomes a game of telephone, where you’re uncertain of the exact words and intent.

Geisel’s racism is old news in the same way that Roald Dahl’s antisemitism is: It might not be common knowledge, but those who know, know, and while it may not tarnish the brilliance of The B.F.G or Matilda, it’s unfortunate all the same. Those in charge of Dr. Seuss’s cultural legacy, understandably, would prefer

Even if it has, licenses need to be renewed.
If the game sells well, there might be DLC and expansions or a sequel. Which will, eventually, require the license to be renewed. And if such products are a huge success, she can ask for more for the renewal.

Thinking on this... why would there be any trans students at Hogwarts?

If this was his original plan (which was implied by Kevin Smith ages ago) then it makes sense to end on the cliffhanger, rather than force an ending with editing and a day of reshoots.

???

I’ve had a $50 steak and there is a difference between that and a $20 steak. But not much. And I can’t imagine a $100 being significantly better...

Yeah. I botched those numbers big time.
I was rushing to write this during my lunch hour and didn’t want to trust the numbers in my head and did some quick googling but apparently fucked that up somehow. I thought it looked wrong, but didn’t stop to double-check. I should have trusted my instinct and been more careful.

Kinda.
However, parents can provide consent on behalf of their minor dependants on all kinds of medical issues. That’s literally how anyone under 18 undergoes a medical procedure.

My best friend works in a big high school. For the past few years, he’s had one or two students a year who declare they’re trans and change pronouns and names only to quietly go back when they decide they were wrong. Which is incredibly awkward and stressful for them.

You are quite correct, I stated the wrong number of people who are trans. I apologise.
I checked my numbers as I wrote and thought it was too low based on past research, but was hastily writing my comment in my lunch break and didn’t double-check. I must have had a typo or error in my search that gave me wildly result.

I imagine it’s the genius/asshole situation. Where they’re charming half the time and make you their best friend, while being a huge asshole at other times. Being witty and funny and charming and then a raging dick. The friend who is a blast to hang out with until he crosses a line but you keep spending time with

This is just the gay marriage of the 2020s. They lost that battle, so they have to find something else to keep the base enraged.
