Saying something dumb online and getting roasted is fine. Especially when the person you’re engaging with can roast you just fine by themselves.

I want to clarify that black lives matter and judging people by their skin colour—either by Western standards of race or Easter standards of beauty—is bullshit. And that whitening/ fairing cream is obviously horrible and India should accept people for who the are rather than judging them by the colour of their skin.

Bringing this up at this time feels oddly ethnocentric. We’re applying Western values and baggage of anti-black racism to Indian values regarding fairing skin, which are unrelated to modern racism, predating even English colonialism in India.

First world problems are still problems. They don’t cease to matter just because they’re happening in the first world.

That’s the one thing I can’t wrap my mind around: How did George Floyd’s murder become the catalyst? For black people, the answer’s simple? We’ve just had enough.

Well, given I didn’t know, didn’t have a twitter, and tried to log in repeatedly pretty much during the shut down because that’s when I had time to play... I care.
