Yeah that’s basically a deal breaker, all Pixel 3s should still be under warranty. I’ve found, for the most part, that Google Pixel support is alright. Ymmv of course but there’s no reason for you to live with a defect like that.

If you ever contacted Google that is a good start, they have a form you can fill out to request your chat history with google. I just put that along with my proof of purchase on a PDF and sent it off. I am not hopeful for any money though.
No, this is strictly a hardware issue with initial run OG Pixels. You should probably send your Pixel 3 back for warranty work as I do not think that is a widespread issue.

Don’t blame gamers for over hyping a game when it was the creators that actually over promised. In both of those instances the creators way over promised what was released, yeah No Man’s Sky is great now, but when it hit it was extremely lacking when compared to what was promised.
