Never seen the movie, but don't need to read this whole article to tell you why it failed. Nothing to do with having a woman protagonist; it failed for the same reason most other movies fail - BAD SCRIPT. If it ain't on the page, it ain't on the stage.

I usually really like Susanne Bier's movies (especially Brothers and After The Wedding), so it pains me to say it, but this looks overblown and pedestrian, with bad acting and cliched dialogue. Maybe it's just a really bad trailer, though?
