Well you're right about one thing: right now, the writers are only doing things to give comic book readers a thrill. They don't seem to be too concerned about telling a story this season, just referencing things in the comics.

Fan service? I don't remember people asking for Patty.

If anything, Iris is dead weight and I absolutely hate the writers' take on Patty.

This season is the pits. With the exception of maybe Cisco and Zoom, I don't like a single character on this show.
