When I was "fat" (50lbs heavier than now), I never once had anyone comment on it.
Once I lost weight, got down to about 21 BMI with an average build, several friends and acquaintances told me I "needed to eat a sandwich" or made comments about my food choices. I thought that was really weird. I guess it was some

The beauty issue is interesting, because in many indie and foreign movies, there are decidedly average-looking actors in most roles except for perhaps a lead or two. But big Hollywood films, sometimes made by the same directors that do indie/foreign films as well, always seem to have beauties in 95% of the parts, even

Not the kind that can win you an Academy Award, mind you.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

There's ONE correct opinion here at the AV Club regarding all this. If you deviate even one bit, you will be insulted and called out for it. I learned that in the other thread.

Can Hollywood Move Past Ugly-Shaming?

That doesn't have anything to do with this topic though. I don't understand why so many people bring this up.

Male and female Hollywood actors have always been selected because they stand out from the general population.

What IS reasonable discussion? Everyone slapping their backs about how they really don't care at all and the media sucks?

Is it really body-shaming to only promote the stars that are the most conventionally (read: unusually) beautiful? I don't think Hollywood as a whole is interested in making it easier for average people to become stars.

The problem isn't Hollywood. They will ALWAYS prefer whatever is considered the "ideal" beauty. Always have, always will.

I had never heard of it. It has a respectable (for this type of movie) 53% RT rating, with some praise from a couple of high-profile reviewers. I wouldn't have expected that. Will have to check it out.

Well I for one will never believe how much less great wine can cost.

A line just opened up at the Murder Cruz register, if you're tired of waiting. But hurry, it will fill up quick too.

Amy Schumer will put that in a skit next season!

Perhaps not, but there were a lot of answers.

Everyone is still pondering the question of whether Amy Schumer is "plus size" or not, or whether people can even BE plus size.

It made investors do research? If Hollywood wasn't regulated before, now they've gone and done it.

Her lookalike sure is.

No, all of them are!
