Its been on an upward curve since around episode 13 of season 1…A few bumps here and there but it has IMO been the most consistent Superhero show.

Damon and Bonnie have had the best scenes since the start of the show..Usually Bonnie (Kat) had shit material but always came alive in scenes with Damon, especially in the later seasons.

It had a good final season with a some wildly inconsistent episodes and a couple of dud characters(that devil worship nonsense)..Also i don't think a less than great season should spoil the overall project that had 3 near perfect seasons. A true 'weak' final season is what Lost+Dexter served up.

This is WHY shield is so good..It COULD have been much more epic in the ways you mentioned and so much more…Yet despite those massive constraints it still manages to be brilliant.
