Oh for sure - his reaction confused the hell out of me. I mean, yeah, by itself, the Drake equation doesn't prove anything, but provides a strong perspective. It would seem ESPECIALLY important to dust it off after you've seen some sort of unknown entity defy the laws of physics as we know them.

Fair enough!

I thought the commander said something along the lines of "after I learned what they really are, I was even more fascinated." I'm paraphrasing poorly, but I thought he was saying basically the opposite of being nostalgic for magic.

Yeah, and the captain of a science vessel did seem rather dismissive of, you know, science as well.

Just keep screaming at the heavens. It's a good look.

So, that drop ship, right? Seems like a dramatic entrance compared with a shuttle or something like that. Granted, I think the entry was far more realistic than the traditional sci-fi easy shuttle landing, so I liked that, and the choice of a drop ship does fit with the Martian martial character.

Was that the Martian ambassador? I thought I caught a reference to Prime Minister Smith?

I loved that lie about "flight restrictions" for the daytime arrival. Such obvious posturing!

I was wondering whether Holden shot the husband too. I *think* that based on the wound - lower abdomen - it couldn't have been Holden or Amos (although we all know Amos is too competent at killing to have done it). Of course, that's assuming it's not an exit wound that's visible.

Have we seen the pistachios at all in the show?

Thank you for introducing me to the term "gantelope"

Alternatively, language evolves.

I think the missiles were the main defense, like the US or Russian ballistic missile, in the deterrence sense. I can't imagine that a civilization that can make PDC's that can shoot down missiles/torpedoes would abandon the ABM concept that we have today, especially with the lead-time indicated. They might not

Ooooh, I forgot about the "cable car" scene! That was one thing that annoyed me - if they don't need to physically access the antenna to get the data they need, why do they have to get super close to access the data wirelessly? Am I missing something?

I thought Dawes knew that Naomi was hiding something. I'm not sure if they were going for that, or more of a Belter-to-Belter thing, though.

She's my favorite too, both in the books and the show. Hell, in all of fiction, for that matter!
I'm having a little trouble adjusting to Bobbie, though - despite her characters description in the book, I always pictured her in my mind as Brienne of Tarth.

I'd imagine he'd lose the prize money. I have no memory of Obama giving a lecture over there, although Wikipedia does say that Teddy Roosevelt waited four years before giving his lecture.

I was also underwhelmed, and initially thought the same about the room. However, I *think* that the room we see was an example of the dwelling occupied by the Dwight level lackeys, since Negan was telling Daryl that it could be his and that was in effect what Negan seemed to be offering Daryl.
