I missed some of the episode so I didn't see the ultrasound, but from experience I can confidently say that at 8 weeks a baby looks like a little kidney bean on an ultrasound with barely any noticeable arm and leg buds. I haven't read the comics but I've seen plenty of comic readers who've said the same thing about how weaker the stories are when they veer off from the source material.
