I wouldn't be surprised if they were able to breathe on the moon, and handwave it with the TARDIS or the sonic or something. And I wouldn't be upset either. But then we clearly watch the show for different reasons.

Yes. In doctor who, plot holes are everywhere and answers have been. It's surprising that you haven't figured this out by now. I actually think the plot holes lately have been much improved from 5-7B.
Filler in doctor who would be a problem I'd love to have. :)
I think one thing we can all agree on is that the long form plot structures in this show would be a lot more believable if there were simply more episodes to back them up. In fact, I'd say almost every systemic problem with this show stems directly from a simple lack of quantity.
