Was anyone really clamoring for a Gambit movie anyway? I mean the only successful X-Men solo adventure (in the comic world anyway) was Wolverine. X-Men heroes work best as a team otherwise.

You are not alone. It was Del Toro's take on Hellboy, just like Tim Burton had his take on Batman. They aren't the be all, end all of movie adaptations.
Huge fan of the comics, sad to see Del Toro/Perlman go, especially since I wanted a trilogy from them, but the Hellboy IP is greater than them. Sorry.

I was really hoping for a Joss Whedon kind of ending. AIDA steps into the room, finally a real girl!!! and then *BAM* shot dead with the team still thinking she was an LMD.
Maybe Medusa's hair is going to be the new SPAWN's cloak (90's movie).
What do you expect for a show that's on mainstream network TV? What pains me more is that Marvel Studio's out of The X-Men game and using this as a surrogate.

I think Jason Momoa is doomed to play barbarian roles forever.
I saw Austin Powers 2 in the theater first and the AP1 later on DVD. From that unique perspective, I thought AP2 was the better movie, the rehashed jokes weren't rehashed to me and were funnier. Plus more Dr. Evil shenanigans. Still love them both. Franchise kind of ran it's course with the 3rd one, it had it's…
