If the horses were really that bad and the vet/owner thought it was incurable, they would be put down without question. Unridable horses can be retired (literally put out to pasture), but not if they are dangerous and/or incurably sick.

It's that damn evil mirror, which, once you know about it, you see evidence of everywhere. "The Show Queen" is one of my favorite fairy tales, so I am disappointed that this is considered an adaptation. Why not just call "Frozen" an original story and make an actual adaptation of "The Snow Queen" at some point?
