Yeah, as much as we complain about our health care system up here (rightly so in many cases), we could have it a heck of a lot worse.

I went with my heart and voted for our NDP incumbent, but it wasn't meant to be as Atlantic Canada (where I live) went completely Liberal. I can't be to unhappy though, seeing as it resulted in Mr. Harper finally being booted out of power.

Though like in the states, governing in Canada is also like trying to govern a half a dozen or so different countries, with very different needs and views, all at once. But that's not to surprising when said country is bigger then the whole of Europe.

We desperately need electoral and senate reform in Canada, but it's definitely not something that can be treated lightly. It's going to need a ton of serious research and cooperation, and whether anyone in Ottawa will be able to do this remains to be seen.

Some of it was that Jack Layton was so well liked as both a politician and a person, the Liberals being so weak and ineffective at the time, and the other was that it was that Quebecers were super dissatisfied with the The Bloc.
