Excessive hype backlash can be as bad as excessive hype IMO.

I'm a big enough dork that I'd probably listen to a twelve part series about actual cereal.

I figured they would of had him sign some sort of consent/release form so that they would be covered legally, but I've not followed what's been going on outside the show, so who knows.

I'm with you MrBun8. I was lucky enough to listen to Serial completely unaware of the hype around it, ( I just wanted a podcast to listen to in the car and downloaded it cause it seemed interesting) and it was a genuinely compelling story told well.
