Apparently Eddie will be back next episode? Cue tons of romantic drama where Barry is insecure about Iris and their relationship but she ends up choosing him instead even though Iris/Eddie were 1000x better!

Yeah I didn't catch the nuance with the wording. I didn't think anything of it until someone here pointed out he should've said "blessing", which I agree with.

To each their own! I feel disconnected from the show this year mainly because Thea/Quentin have been sidelined and Oliver/Diggle/Felicity barely interact anymore. I miss the core cast and I have no use for the newbies.

I enjoy the couple's chemistry. HATE how they were written in 4B. I would like to see them return to that if they just axe the useless drama. And considering the show will be entering its 6th season, I think they will.

God… That is so incredibly sad??? E2 Iris was BADASS. Adding insult to injury is that you could actually see the potential she could've had, yet the writers don't care at all.

Don't worry, Iris will save him from himself with the most epic pep talk of all time.

A show I don't get all the praise for is Daredevil. I just can't stand Matt.

Show some respect D:

I think the shows you mentioned suffer from having full episode orders. 23 episodes is a lot and the writers aren't good at balancing.

It's clear The Flash will never appreciate Iris as a character. She's nothing but a love interest who has no other role on the show. It's so incredibly sad to see so much lost potential.

Pretty Ricky is what I call him lmao

She's not going to die… Even though I kinda want Candice to move onto greener pastures. There's nothing for her here.

After Eddie died.

Ah yeah. I see the difference there. Yeah for me a blessing is enough. I can see now how 'permission' shows Iris is like Joe's property

I hate this show lmao

I think it all has to do with forcing romance instead of responding to what they see on screen.

I think it depends on how you see it. I don't personally think it's sexist to ask for a father's permission. I think it's just done out of respect for the elderly. At least that was the environment I grew up in.

What makes it even MORE blatant that the writers failed this romance is that Barry can't even say ONE nice thing about Iris as a person. Iris can't even say WHY she wants to be Barry's wife, just that she wants to be his wife.

Unfortunately Stephen/Katie never did a chemistry test. That's why that romance was doomed from the start

I was watching the episode and when Iris broke the engagement with Barry I felt nothing. I realized I'm just so entirely disconnected with that romance. I just don't understand it. Why does Iris want to marry Barry? What does he give her in return?
