With all of this said - and none of it's wrong - I can absolutely see how a different person can come to the end of its episode and give it an A.

Yeah, I suspected some sort of trick there.
It's not really a redemption moment. Mycroft states pretty bluntly that if she gets out she'll kill again.
I was very engrossed, very entertained, and when it was over I said, "That was a great over the top but dumb action thriller. When is 'Sherlock' going on?"
I didn't read through the reviewer's very, very long list of problems with the episode at the end of it, but in case it wasn't mentioned: John gaining the superhuman strength needed to break through his chains at the precise moment Sherlock rescued him is quite a relief! You think he would have put that to use a…
We get a fig leaf.
Well, sure he already won, but there's no rule saying you can't win twice.
I think the reviewer is being unfair. It is said right before this that Eurus has a mesmerizing effect on everyone who sees her, to the point where she turns people into mind-slaves. Sherlock's senses were dulled.
WALTER GOGGINS DIDN'T GET NOMINATED FOR THE FINAL SEASON OF "JUSTIFIED". I'M STILL MAD.
Though his best performance in the series is "A Scandal in Belgravia". Freeman's is "The Reichenbach Fall".
To be fair, I thought Cumberbatch put on his best performance since "The Reichenbach Fall" in "The Lying Detective".
Especially after "The Wide Window" did such a great job showing how far that formula could stretch. "The Miserable Mill" keeps it all in a relatively mundane location, and while it has its own charm, it couldn't compare to a book where three children sailed across a lake in a hurricane to rescue a woman terrified of…
I'll give you that!
Yep.
I missed it if they did, and I'm glad I missed it if that's the case.
BTW, it's TOTAL BULLSHIT we never get a follow-up scene with Molly.
Also, this ain't no finale. We're getting a series 5. The nice thing about Sherlock Holmes is that you really can take years off and the characters can stretch that far.
This was a brilliant episode of a thriller.
Yessssss - ic - aaaa Haircut!
I mean, it's not a bad book at all. It's just, of the first four books - the ones completely unconnected to the VFD plot - it's probably the one I forgot about first. There wasn't enough to differentiate it from the others to make it really interesting.
