And, you know, there's a difference between "grim" and "nihilistic".

To put it another way - I've seen this complaint in many reviews of TWD, and none of, say, "Justified".

I think everybody has a point here. I think the trick is, you can't let the seams show - and the problem is, on TWD they have.

Dictators tend to take absolutely NO chances with security. They put out secret police and guard themselves at all times. Negan just walks around like a rock star.

I mean, going back to "The Flash", even pre-Flashpoint season one "Flash" is very much not smart, but it embraces everything that happens with gusto. Like, everybody takes the super threats with just the right amount of seriousness and awareness that, come on, Mark Hamill's playing a live action version of the Joker

Look, I get what you're saying, I honestly do, but the quality of life being forced upon them combined with the fact that Negan walks around with utter contempt at the very idea that someone might get mad enough to put a bullet in his head makes me wonder every time I see him how somebody hasn't capped him yet.

I've seen the first five episodes. It's such a mixed bag. Rip Hunter, the Atom, Captain Cold, White Canary? All great. Captain Cold's heat partner who is such a blank slate I don't remember his super name, the Hawk People, black half of Firestorm? Boring as mud. Stein I can take or leave, he's all right.

Dead on, all of it. Though I tend to want to give people a little more credit than "zombies is hot, yo".

Yeah, I'm not even watching the show, just reading reviews, but if this doesn't end with Negan being killed in a way that satisfied karmic justice I will fucking break something.

Come the fuck on people, kill Negan already.

All right, I've made good so far on my promise not to watch, but I got to say that I looked up the plot summary and Daryl is all right, brother.

I'd say it's probably not leading anywhere, but "Rebels" has proven me wrong with Ezra before, so I'll remain cautiously optimistic.

After the extraordinarily hamfisted and one-sided commentary of Parks and Rec I'm gobsmacked at how smart and nuanced this show is. Like our reviewer I expected a sort of "Rodney Dangerfield mouths off to snobs" thing and have been blown away at how well executed everything has been. This show is mighty impressive.

This is true - sometimes.

Silly me. This was just advice! How did I not get that from the contempt you've shown me?

If you're going to insult me, at least be honest about it.

I'm sorry, did you mean it as a compliment?

Yeah, I'll just note that so far in this conversation, I've insulted nobody. Several people have gone out of their way to insult me.

I'm not trying to argue for or against anyone here.

I'm not saying what you think I'm saying here.
