I've only seen two or three episodes of Classic Who, so Simm's performance was my first exposure to the Master (well, after Derek Jacobi). I know I'm in a vast minority, but I loved him in the role (and yes, that does include The End of Time). I have not particularly enjoyed this season, but since I knew he would be

If only! But I refuse to get my hopes up.

…I would love it if John Simm was the new Doctor…

    This, exactly.

Oh good grief. I've never seriously considered giving up on the show but that just might do it,

    Really? Interesting!

This is making me feel better about only having access to the show online.

I only knew because I was trying to figure out if I'd seen the actor in blue makeup somewhere before, went to IMDB to check, and the first entry said, "When the Master removes his disguise…" with no spoiler tag. No one to blame but myself, I suppose.

I love Sherlock, but I am STILL seething about what they did to Irene Adler. Ugh. God forbid a woman be the intellectual equal of Sherlock Holmes and be appreciated solely for her mind. It. Was. The. Whole. Point. Of. Her. Character.

I have a feeling you'll want to watch at least the first episode of the third season. The second ends with a fairly infamous cliffhanger (and don't be fooled into thinking the first scene is the answer; it isn't).

While it was definitely the weakest season overall, I don't think it's nearly as bad as critical consensus makes it out to be. It's worth a watch if you're a fan; just don't set your expectations too high.

You know, I appreciate this. I've been ranting on a weekly basis to a friend about how utterly terrible the current season and companion are (just my opinion). However, it will all change in short order so I should really calm down. Doctor Who is bigger than any one TARDIS team.

I don't actually care myself, but you do realize that the spacing in the way you've posted your comment makes it impossible to avoid looking away between reading the word "spoiler" and the actual spoiler information? :-)

Generally, yes. And then sometimes they get a word or phrase wrong that completely changes the meaning, like Bill's response to how the Doctor gets the locals on his side. Captioning: "Usually by knowing them." Actual line (I assume, after replaying and thinking about it for a minute): "Usually by annoying them."

I'd be fine with this as long as it did not include Bill.

Not that anyone is reading this at such a late date, but that adage didn't/doesn't apply to me. I almost stopped watching the show with my first Doctor—Nine—but was encouraged to continue by hardcore Whovian friends. I pressed on and fell in love with my second Doctor, Ten, and have enjoyed all those that followed to

Just rewatched this for probably the fifth time and thought I'd go back and check out the comments section of the original review. FINALLY someone else who thought this was a great episode!

…you do know you won't be seeing Lin-Manuel, right (unless you mean you have tickets for London)? And yes, please do pass them along; I guarantee you will make someone's year, if not decade.

I'm curious if you have a link to the deleted scene from Robot of Sherwood? I've always been interested to see it, but I don't believe it's on my DVD and I am not about to type "beheading" into a search engine…

I loved her hair this week.
