This reminded me of something. The show has a 14+ rating, but the language is surprisingly prim. Lots of "screw offs" and "what the hecks." Anyone think this is because they're trying to stick to the original movie's vibe. I mean, I know it's contemporary, but there were fewer (if any) f-bombs in movies back then.

Like I say, I don't agree with you, but however much we might disagree over details and plot points and character arcs, I love that people are so engaged with this show.

I have to admit, I'm becoming slightly confused here. Sympathy from whom? Caleb seems no different to me, as a viewer, than he was when he was first introduced: a damaged man who did awful things and is somewhat remorseful. I'm now surmising you think it's the writers who are giving him (or Dylan?) a pass, but you do

Yeah, I agree, it's awful. But families can even be worse than this. They could have plain disbelieved her, for instance. That of course isn't to justify any of it; all I'm saying is that their behaviour is well within parameters, and that incest in families creates seismic shifts and fault lines that can take

Made me LOL for real. Especially funny as it was such a throwaway line, in the background.

I hear what you're saying, but incest and sexual abuse within families creates some odd and often counterintuitive dynamics. Many children who were abused by adult family members, or by siblings for that matter, still love the perpetrators. It's rarely black and white. Strangely enough, given this is the Bates family

Um, because she wasn't only talking about the bypass?

You piqued my interest. But yes, proofreaders and copyeditors to thread.
