Gay white men? An extremely small sample size (purely anecdotal evidence), but my ex-boss who is gay and a current gay coworker have made allusions to heightened black homophobia.

LMAO.

You're not the only one, but I'm trying to be positive about it. First, Damon and Panama don't owe me anything. I was late to the party, but my VSB experience was astounding. They need do what's best for them. I can't expect things to stay the same forever because it's what I want. If more money and a wider

If you need funds, let us know. I don't know how much it is to create and maintain something like this. A small Go Fund Me maybe?

I'd be very interested. When I was right out of law school, I frequented a couple of law blogs including Above the Law. Above the Law eventually got rid of their comments section, so one of the regular posters set up an Above the Law adjacent Disqus comment board of his own, and we'd go over there and discuss the

I've always gone back and forth. At times, I've thought it was fairly good with some well written, insightful, interesting articles. At other times, I've felt it came across as a high school newspaper and was underwhelmed. And, I've never liked the page layout (but that's minor). I have not been over there

What do VSBers think of The Root?

Why can't VSB use Disqus? Onion AV Club was also bought out by Univision/Gizmodo and kept Disqus. Not that any commenting platform is perfect, but Disqus is light years better than Kinja (ugh).

Seriously, congrats for leveraging all of your hard work. You built VSB into an excellent website/blog/forum. I'll be along for the change, but have my reservations. Someone is controlling you now, no matter what they say, and the commenting format is awful. But, VSB's content should make it all worth it.

I agree, he was the weakest actor, generally. But, no way do I believe he was leaving; he saw the writing on the wall.

I'm convinced this isn't actually a SBBPL thing. I'm sure some bougie blacks may drink room temp water, but is it really an identifiable trend? Obviously, not ALL bougie black folk are going to do any of the things in this column, but I've never, ever heard this talked about or joked about as an aspect of bougie

Kournikova was very good (she made it to No. 8 in the world), but just couldn't make that last jump to elite status. She just didn't have that extra dimension and drive. Good, if unspectacular, singles career before being curtailed by injuries and a very good doubles career (including a couple of Slam titles), but

They have had a very good relationship for the most part, and McEnroe has fawned over Serena at times not qualifying her excellence with "but she's female." So, this was very disappointing. I'm not sure it was that shady or malicious, but it sure didn't come out good.

The man thing is SO tired. I've played tennis since I was 8 and and am a huge fan, so Serena has a special place in my heart. I can't stand when people talk abut her musculature or call her a "man" and say she has an unfair advantage. Disrespectful, ignorant, racist. Steffi Graf was less muscular, more lithe and

"Every American should go to college" is even MORE of a lie now with the exploding cost of education and the potential debt pitfall. Be careful. I thought it was expensive enough when I went 20 years ago. This is not AT ALL to say that college isn't a good or great thing for some people; they SHOULD go to

My office had a potluck about 3 weeks ago. White coworker brought a crock pot and MADE mac and cheese at work with elbow macaroni, cheese, paprika. Cheerily announced "it should be ready around noon." https://uploads.disquscdn.c…
I had to take a pic and send it to folks. Even a lot of the other white people in

My dad taught me pretty early, and I can tie a decent, good-looking knot (I don't know what it's called), but to this day (decades later) I can only use THAT technique . I never branched out and learned other knots/techniques. I'd assume there's different ways to do it. I guess I'll Google/Youtube it out of

I kept seeing the trailer for this in other movies this year. I had never heard of it, and it the whole thing seemed deliciously preposterous. Simply, the movie looks awesome; like I know it will be kick-ass fun. I usually don't get that impression from trailers, even if some are claiming the trailer wasn't that

Can anyone define acid jazz? I guess there were some sonic templates, but it was pretty broad. More of an aesthetic (like Neo Soul) than a definitive sound (but there's something there that binds it all). It was huge among my crowd in college - Soul II Soul, Brand New Heavies, Carleen Anderson, Incognito, (some)

Wynton was the worst with his constant need to strictly define what "real" jazz was. Also, the desire to make it all "classy", a white glove affair on par with the opera or classical music also served to narrow the audience.
