In the books the fighting pits story plays very differently.

Indeed it is not in the Bible, in the Bible Abraham, have to offer his son Isaac for sacrifice. But you already knew this.
You misunderstood me. I have no problem with shows commenting also on reality, but the plot is the most important yes. First a good plot, then commenting, but not "a show about reality".
A gay uncle and two gay aunts ? What's wrong with your family ?
I have not seen it, but basically, if I am interested in reality, I do not need a show, I have reality itself already. I watch shows for plot and all the stuff you apparently do not like.
The record is incomplete and from what we have alone, the crime rate was way higher than today. And I gave links for a few countries.
People have the right to not like it, and I personally have no inclination to watch rapes, if there were none I would be perfectly happy. But people have no right to ask them to stop telling the story the way they want to tell it. Of course the worse thing here is the PCness and the hypocrisy that goes with it, like…
I don't know what people believe about actual murder rates in the middle ages. We also grew up with a romantic vision of the middle ages, of Robin Hood, knights, Arthur and stuff like that.
And do not forget that the events depicted in GoT occur in time of war. Westeros at the beginning of the series was not depicted…
The issue is very simple: if they want to show a rape, for whatever reasons, it's their right. You don't like it ? So don't like it. The do not even have to justify themselves (and they don't, by the way). They write the story that they want to write.
You are wrong. Actual rates of violent crimes were much higher than today:
I think it's obvious and it explains the time differences. WP is in the future, far away, maybe after some zombie apocalypse in the outside world. In the present, WP is a small nothing town as the guy said, but it will be this small city experiment later. The conspiration in the present may for the moment have nothing…
"I also seem to be one of the few people that loved the finale, when it aired."
100% agree. The Leftovers is the closest show to Lost that I know (and maybe BSG that was airing the same years as Lost), and it had almost nothing in common with it.
Prisoners was one of the best movies of 2013.
There is a 3 hour adaptation also.
I would be very interested to know how you could understand what I wrote as "being fine with necrophilia", really.
Relatively bad episode, mostly filler and the last 10 minutes were just sex scenes - and if I wanted to watch that I would watch porn. And not just sex scene but gay sex (sorry but I can't even look at that, just a physical reaction), a guy having sex with a corpse, a guy being drugged to have sex (so rape, but I…
I read the first book, thought it was relatively boring and repetitive and overstuffed. Did not read the second book.
The book readers know less about the "others" (as they are called in the books but not in the show, for obvious reasons) than the show viewers.
Once again the obsession with rape ? Why ? Are you just insane ?
The writers have the right to use rape in their fictions as they want, as a "trope", as a plot device, as a shocking moment, they have the right to do whatever they want whether you like it or not. Keep your fucking politics out of our shows.
