I haven't been able to catch any of this but the impression I'm getting is that it's modeled more after, say, a Bad Company kind of vibe than a Medal or Honor/Act of Valor/etc., right?

Gangs of New York isn't BAD, per se, but my main beef with it is that it feels like it cares more about being a period piece of (at least then) an obscure part of American history than it does telling the story of Leonardo DiCaprio's character, so much so that the climactic rumble between the Natives and the Irish

"Hey Homer, us hotheads here is gonna go tear down Burns' sun-blockin machine. You wanna come with?"

I know there're so many great moments from this episode, but nothing makes me giggle more than Homer's belching contest trophy. If ever there was a symbol to represent the act of burping, that was it.
