What I find amusing about the Coop/Dougie story line is that what we are seeing of Dougie must be close enough to his normal behavior that no one has hauled his ass to the hospital. Only Jade is perceptive enough to suggest that maybe he had a "stroke or something", but everyone else is more or less going with it. His

I think you are right. Twin Peaks was a magical dream/nightmare town 25 years ago. Now what we see is stark reality, even with the supernatural elements.

Just caught up today (thank you Lyme disease for giving me some free time to watch TV). So much to talk about, but one thing that strikes me is that the town of Twin Peaks has been stripped of it's veneer of wholesomeness. Yes, it was only a veneer before, but it was there. Twin Peaks seemed like a town out of time.

Oh dear lord. Please let there be a market for cat shit. Please, please, please.

Exactly. My first response was "there were people who didn't like Night Court? Who the hell doesn't like Night Court?"

This episode led to me having to explain "Night Court" to my 14 year old daughter, and then having to explain the brilliance of Harry Anderson. A similar things happened after the "Twin Peaks" episode of "Psych", but in that case we just went ahead and watched all of Twin Peaks together.

Yes. I always found Canada's postion in the book interesting, and of course it may shift over time if Gilead becomes more bellicose towards its neighbor to the north. Think about how people who have escaped the Islamic State are treated by neighboring territories (and elsewhere).

Washington D.C. may not exist anymore. Several cities were completely destroyed, and nuclear weapons were used in the takeover. Gilead is not the U.S. any more than the IS is Syria or Iraq. It just covers some of the same territory. Totally agree about Cambridge being the capital.

I mentioned this in several responses below, but I may as well make an actual post about it. Think of Gilead as similar to the current Islamic State. There are people trying to get out. There are people who are missing. There are people trying to get in (which we have not heard about with Gilead, but who knows). There

Yeah. There are "Save the Women" organizations in England and probably lots of other countries. Much of the world is horrified by what they know or suspect is going on in Gilead. Think of it like how the world is responding to the Islamic State now.

Something that has not been made clear in the series is that Gilead is constantly at war. Think of Boston in Gilead as though it in the middle of the Islamic State. Sure, it seems as though they set up a stable society along the lines of their crazy vision here, but around the edges, not so much.

I remember seeing a story on the news about it while I was living overseas in Korea, and really hoping I would be able to see it when I got home later that summer. (The news anchors on US Armed Forces network wore army uniforms, BTW.) Of course it stayed in theaters for ages, so my dad and I went to see it. That was

Maybe he just looks older.

Were he to run for president, his decisions as an actor or the quality of his movies would have no bearing on whether I would vote for him (in the primary). It would be determined by the positions he took on the issues and how he conducts himself in real life. It's not like a good actor from high brow movies is

Oh heh. Now there's a series that's ready for its gritty movie adaptation.

What the hell photo are you looking at? How much better can he look?

Ugh. These commercials. I can't imagine anyone would think these are scripted, because I am sure they could have come up with better dialogue than "It's going up".

"Get your hands off me old man."

I see what you did there.

Ugh. "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" is just awful, and "Brigadoon" is a masterpiece. What were people thinking?
