Inferred misogyny aside, this was a B-/C+ episode. We're halfway through and the big picture isn't coming into focus fast enough to keep my interest and Spring's boobytrapped basement was far too silly to carry the episode.
"You know, the guy from Mafia?" Wait. Did anyone see Mafia?
I still feel for that poor kid and his "What is the emanciptation Proclamation?" response.
Congrats to "Eddie Murphy in White Like Me" on advancing to the semi-finals.
If you take away the Freaky Friday episode, it was a wonderful first season that shockingly made me care about every single character, even the ones I hated in the pilot.
What kind of weapon does the Atom use?
A Ray gun.
That Final was so tricky that it should have been saved for the ToC. I would never think of the Great Barrier Reef as a "structure" in the classical sense and even though the "living creatures" phrasing was odd, I still went with the Great Wall. Tough question, particularly for the teens.
I understand that every team member has to be shown doing something at the riot for the sake of demonstrating unity and progress. But NuCanary literally ran over to a man and her baseball cap wearing kid, and walked them to safety. That was it. Walked.
When else would you have one?
"Porter, grab the axe. You need to chop wood for this ad."
[Porter picks up a miniature replica of the Statue of Liberty]
JIMMY: You're a talentless idiot who only got ahead by sleeping her way to the middle! I loathe everything about you! [dramatic scoff]
KATHARINE MCPHEE'S CHARACTER: I WANT TO PRODUCE YOUR SHOW AND HAVE YOUR BABIES!
Porter's inevitable race for New Hampshire's senate seat will be torpedoed by his inability to differentiate the symbol of America's liberty from the Hope Diamond.
OBJECTION!
The clue referred to 10 Cloverfield Lane as being a sequel. If anything, it's an anthology film that merely connects to "Cloverfield" in that it has similar themes.
To quote baseball player Rod Tidwell, "Show me financial independence!"
The chapter on "Getting your ship out of ice."
With that lean, Kat was an old Vaudeville comic desperately trying to sell a punchline.
Between the lean, the upspeak and the general self-satisfaction, I couldn't stand to have Kat on another day. I thought that Chuck would be our savior but lo and behold Georjean comes out of nowhere. Thank you, Georgjean. A fine mess you got us out of.
And the return of the original Igor verse!
Landis is the Emperor's New Clothes incarnate, meaning that this property perfectly exploits that fact: a detective story with numerous plot threads that purposefully never come together. So an episode like this can be seen as A) not advancing the plot or offering any substantial clues or B) seemingly random events…
