no totally, but that wave of bands was before general music outlets/plebs caught on haha. those were bands still just playing basements, albiet to crowds growing larger and larger. i feel like the public resurgence of emo as a genre of interest has largely been within the past 2-3 years maybe?

also never understood this band being lumped into that genre, and that seems to be a largely revisionist thing. i remember listening to ROC in high school circa 2001-2005 and never once were they a band me or my friends or anyone i talked about with music considered "emo", a genre which we definitely also listened to.

for the life of me i will never understand people who are embarrassed of what they used to listen to, unless you were solely pretending to like something as a means to form some kind of identity.
