It's not that controversial. It happened. Now, if it was a fictional story. Then, I'd think we'd see backlash.

Because its a good story. It's all about the narrative. Just cuz somethings true doesn't make it not entertaining. Most people would say its more entertaining.

That's not that big of a deal. If it was critically acclaimed and without controversy people would see. "Mainstream" audiences don't watch these movies anyway.

Did anyone really expect this movie to be groundbreaking? Everyone was caught up in #Oscarssowhite last year and Fox Searchlight was trying to make a splash and garner some goodwill.
