It seems where we disagree though is that you believe the faith is leading the people, while I believe the people are leading the faith?

I think it's very valid. The KKK are faith-based and powered by the tenants of Christianity and "one hundred percent Americanism".

Well, fair enough — I'm against those ideologies too. Their specific beliefs lead to specific negative consequences. Maoism is a kind of religion, basically.
In fact, if there were a global Maoist insurgency that was destabilizing much of the world, I would be making posts pointing out the link between their beliefs

As I said in my response above, indeed tribalism fuels human hatreds, and we're not going to erase tribalism by erasing religion.
But religion is distinct from tribalism, in that it contains specific injunctions that can — and do — lead to great harm. If all religion vanished tomorrow, a lot of needless suffering would

So only suicidal ideologies/religions are bad?

So you're going to generally blame a religion for the twisted interpretations a minor radical subsection makes of it's teachings?

Are there many communist suicide bombers?

I guess for me, I figure it's not "the problem" because people manage to do horrible terroristic things without religion.

I'm late as usual for making a comment, but let me just say that I'm baffled by people who don't hold religion in general — and Islam more specifically — responsible for the actions of these *religious* maniacs.

Well, I would blame religion in general and Islam more specifically for the actions of these maniacs. Whatever terrestrial grievances these terrorists may or may not have had, I have a hard time believing that so many of them would be eager to die absent the belief that they are bound for paradise.

There's an argument that the refusal of liberals to say explicitly that we're dealing specifically with Islamic terrorism actually empowers conservative demagogues.

The problem with Bernie is that he can't carry a general election. Hillary can and will. We need a liberal in the White House (or, to put it even more accurately, we need to make sure that a crazy conservative demagogue is not in the White House).

He's a brilliant scientist and a correct critic of religion. He's just unfortunately also an old man who doesn't understand how to use twitter.

Well, religion is an overall force for evil in the world.

For those not in the know, "Psycho Dad" is an in-universe TV show that Al loves.

    "Alllll, let's have sex."

Also actual dialogue — no kidding:

To this day, when playing the card game Guillotine, whenever I collect "The Clown," I solemnly declare, "The clown is down."

Maybe I'm just tired, but I'm having trouble following your point. So what I'm going to do is explain my point with (hopefully) more clarity, and you tell me where you agree or disagree.
Islam is a religion, and like pretty much all religions, there are lots of different ideas and interpretations that are grouped under

It really is a magnificent duel. That’s a great point about Empire being the first movie in which we learn that the force can be used for telekinesis, an ability that is used to great effect in
that fight. [This is also the movie that lets us see Vader force-choke someone to death through a *video* image, implying that
