Let's cut to the chase here.
Let's cut to the chase here.
Reshoots couldn't have been more minimal than they were. One 10 hour day with a minimal crew, a couple actors, and not enough gear to light shots.
Effie claims she came in $280,000 under budget. They didn't spend $280,000 on that one day of reshoots, with a greatly reduced crew and not even enough gear to light the simplest of shots.
Anyone notice that on the pickups day they were shooting in Beverly Hills after dark? Looked like it was in their staging parking lot and not the house, but I bet they didn't have a permit for that. LOL.
The real test is how many directors worked with her more than once. I'm not seeing a lot of repeat business there, other than some webseries stuff she did all at once.
I had thought Jason would have a good shot at a career after this. He got a movie made, went through the process. That counts for a lot.
I'm fairly skeptical it's as big a disaster as some of the reviews say it is. Most of them seem more interested in reviewing Jason than the movie.
Malick must have final cut. There's no way anyone with a financial stake in his films would make those choices!
LOL. Of course she's trying to cover her ass after seeing how awful she looked with that little tantrum.
I can't see Effie as anything but her own villain. Refusing to show up and her do her job for the reshoots was the very definition of unprofessional.
Joubert did say something about "We did what we could with the budget Effie said we had." about the dissappointing stunt. It's dubbed in later, and it seemed like a strange way to phrase things. Maybe this is why.
Everyone but Jason seemed to think it was fine. The DP is next to Jason and just seems confused by Jason's reaction. I don't get it. It looked pretty clearly underwhelming.
It's a good point about Project Greenlight that you're basically in a position where you can't use the same friends you've been working with, probably for years, as your crew. Jason was lucky enough to get an actor he already knew, usually you won't even have that.
Sadly, it looks like the stunt coordinator has coordinator credits going back 20 years, and other stunt work another 10 years before that. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm…
The crash looks OK in the trailer. Not as exciting as you'd hope, but they do kinda sell it.
It wasn't a matter of Jason "still not selecting a location", it was a matter of the location manager not giving him choices until the last minute. Then making excuses about it.
Nope. Jason selected the site 5 days before shooting started. The first week was entirely interior shots. They didn't need permits to shoot outside until the second week. So, couple weeks, not couple DAYS, not even if you all caps it.
That's neat. But Effie doesn't hold the purse. So it's not her film. And it's why Jason went to the people who did to get more money.
He immediately did in fact start asking for clarification. He asked about the insert car and the extra cameras and Effie started her little pouty huffy show.
I strongly suspect a lot of things get hidden away in the show's budget. You pay the actors scale from the movie budget, but star's perks come from the show's budget. That kind of thing.
