I stand corrected!

Yes, and of course their suspended bodies floating around the ship added to the horror. In the episode I remember most, Ulysses is shown the lush, blue Earth on his video screen and offered passage home, but only if he condemns his own son and his robot pal to walk around a mobius strip hanging in space until the end

I thought of Barefoot Gem which may be the most horrifying animated film I've ever seen (the part where the soldiers develop radiation sickness and start defecating themselves stays with me) but again, it's not specifically for children, nor did I see it as a child.

And El-ahrairah's tail grew shining white, and it flashed like a star, and his back legs grew long and powerful. He tore across the hill faster than any creature in the world.

No thanks, I'm full.

Filling up a bunch of diapers with barbecue in order to sneak your own food into Disney Land is just about the most demented thing I've ever heard in my life.

And then perhaps skin it and wear its fur on his big fat head.

I'd be nervous. Imagine being a little kid and seeing that bearing down on you.

That man? Hot damn.

The proof roof is a little old place where / we can get together / proof roof baby…

Indeed, and when fascism first emerged in Italy it did not include antisemitism or notions of racial purity, which were the most unambigously evil elements of German fascism. I do think that made interest in it more forgivable, and many of its supporters lost faith when the horrors of the Nazi state became apparent.

Either of those things would be less disturbing than the truth.

Countless millions of people maintain their grace and dignity while doing tough jobs for a long time - many of them have tougher jobs and most of them have harder lives. It's admirable, perhaps, but not remarkable.

So many of the British aristocracy found fascism deeply appealing, for pretty obvious reasons. Thankfully not all of them went full-Nazi like Edward though.

…it weren't easy, 'cause when they met, it was murder.

My reply was a bit terse, apologies. I'm in the UK and I know many feminists, but I honestly don't know any monarchists at all. Feminism is generally associated with the left, and anyone even slightly left of centre is a (small 'r') republican.

No they're not.

In the words of Doug Stanhope: "Is this a country or a Renaissance festival? What kind of Dungeons & Dragons bullshit is that?"

The structure wasn't absent, it was just unusual. I found it very interesting, but I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.
