They've been putting more effort into elaborate couch gags than into actual episodes for quite some time now it seems. It's about the only thing that still gives them (positive) attention, like the Banksy one (speaking of, what was the big deal with that? It's just a drawn-out version of a background gag they did

Foreign performances struggle to get in at SAG (they are eligible, though). She actually has a better shot at an Oscar nom.

Contrary to this article, there is also a good argument to be made that he is better-looking than Chris Hemsworth.

I'm not sure how many shows were actually eligible for this, since WGA nominations are exclusive to WGA members. I know South Park is ineligible, for example.

This enormous woman will devour us all!!

She couldn't have said she was back, sane and better than ever when she was rather blatantly none of these things, and continues to be. For years now it has seemed like she hates absolutely everything about being a star, but keeps being pushed to release and perform music by the people who have legal control over her.

Sunshine? I've never played it since we never got a GameCube, but that seems to be one that hasn't aged really well.

As far as enjoyable, "pure" pop goes, their first two albums delivered. This is really dire though. One banal ballad after another, obviously obsessed with coming off as "mature". If I wanted to listen to Mumford & Sons… no, I wouldn't.

You're right about how this episode "feels" good. It has a very unique atmosphere to it - the ominous way the tension builds in the climax is fantastic - something part 2 didn't quite deliver on. As you said, it's a lot broader and more generic. But still very good, of course!

And then when everyone hates it, we'll bring out Slurm Classic and make millions!

Mona's first return was actually handled quite well, I thought. The second one however…

    edit

And Burns refers to Santa's Little Helper as the "Simpson Mutt".

They established several things just for that episode, such as Moe's last name (so that his initials spell M.S.).

I love that. And it's basically an early version of the Chalmers/Skinner portion of the 22 short films episode.

"Smithers mentioned that he watches Comedy Central each day. I made sure to remember that, as it seemed quite unusual."

Part 1 is much better. That's not to say part 2 isn't good, but part 1 is one of the all-time great episodes. I've only come to appreciate it even more over the years when I realized how carefully it's structured and how many subtle clues are planted. It really works not only as a magnificent episode of comedy, but

For I Spy, yes (He's still tied with Bryan Cranston for most consecutive wins in that category). By the way, he was never nominated for The Cosby Show because he chose not to submit his name for consideration.

"I do think that Andre Braugher (himself an Emmy award winner for
Homicide one year—I think he was also the only black actor to ever win
best actor in his category too but I could be wrong)"

    TV Club 10? Yes, please!
